
Engagement Announcement
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Thomas Melville announce the engagement and forthcoming
marriage of her daughter, Miss Betty Ruth Harrison to Paul Wayne Godfrey,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Tharo Belton Godfrey of Fairborn, Ohio.
The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Henry Alton Harrison. She
is the granddaughter of Mrs. Alton Caldwell Harrison of Hortense and
the late Mr. Harrison and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Horace Blount of
Thalmann.
Miss Harrison is a graduate of Glynn Academy and attended Mercer University
in Macon. She is now a junior at the University of Georgia.
Her fiancé is the grandson of Mrs. Tilman Columbus Collins of
Chesnee, South Carolina and the late Mr. Collins and of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Dovie Goin Godfrey of Rock Hill, S.C.
Mr. Godfrey attended Florida State University at Tallahassee. He is
now a senior at the University of Georgia, where he is a member of Sigma
Phi Epsilon and a cadet major in advanced Air Force ROTC.
The wedding is planned for January 25 at 3 p.m. at the Pine Ridge Baptist
Church. The couple invites friends and relatives to attend.

The Wedding
The marriage of Miss Betty Ruth Harrison and Paul Wayne Godfrey was
solemnized on Saturday in the Pine Ridge Baptist Church. The Rev. Allen
E. Stephens pfficiated at the afternoon ceremony and Mrs. Ernest Lewis
was organist.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. W. T. Melville and the late Henry
A. Harrison and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tharo Belton
Godfrey of Fairborn, Ohio.
Carrying a bouquet of roses and carnations, the bride was given in marriage
by her stepfather, Mr. Melville. Her floor length gown of ivory satin
was accented with a chapel length train flowing from the waist. The
princess bodice was fashioned with a high round neckline and long tapering
sleeves ending in lily points. Lace motifs embroidered with sequins
and pearls were appliquéd on the bodice and train. A satin rose
embroidered with seed pearls secured her shoulder length veil of illusion.
The bride's sisters, Mrs. Richard Morabito of Rome and Miss Pat Harrison
of Durham, North Carolina, were her honor attendants. They wore matching
gowns of moss green crepe fashioned in princess lines. Each carried
a single long stemmed yellow rose.
Eldee Wilson of Warner Robins was best man and ushers were Henry Harrison,
the bride's brother, and Johnny Keith Howe.
For a wedding trip to north Georgia, the bride wore a coat and dress
ensemble of peach wool complemented with the corsage from her wedding
bouquet.
The newlyweds will reside in Athens.
