Kristin's Biography

The Early Years
Kristin was born in Del Rio, Texas on August 14th, 1973. She stayed in her birth state only six days before her family drove to Ohio to live. Kristin's father, Paul, an Air Force Captain at the time, traveled to Greece to work for a year. Kristin kept busy by keeping Mom (Betty) awake to study for her Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology through Wright University.

Kristin attended pre-school in Frankfurt, Germany and moved back to the United States (Virginia) for kindergarten through second grade. England was the site for third grade, while Kaiserslautern, Germany (Mölschbach, to be exact) was home through sixth grade (Thanks Ms. Drakeford, Ms. Russell, and the rest!!).

From 1985 to 1988, Kristin attended 3 different schools in the Tampa/Brandon areas, thanks to zoning and grade centers. She then returned to Germany, Stuttgart/Vaihingen this time, to complete her last three years at Patch High School, which was a 7th through 12th grade center. It was there that he enjoyment of music and science was encouraged.

"Adulthood"
In 1991, she traveled back to Florida to attend college at Florida State University, majoring in Biological Sciences. Throughout her undergraduate years, she maintained a presence in music through ensemble and choral groups. Her sophomore year, she met Jeffrey Stevens and "fell in love". She received her Bachelor's degree in April 1995 and traveled to Gainesville, Florida to attend graduate school.

Kristin started a Ph.D. program in the Neuroscience Department at the University of Florida. She began in a laboratory studying the correlation of brain anatomy and learning disablilities. She also looked into other types of research, and started to study spinal cord injury. She is currently finishing up her degree and writing her dissertation.

Jeff graduated in August of 1996 and also moved to Gainesville for graduate school in advertising. Before Jeff moved to Gainesville, he proposed to Kristin (with the help of a magician), and Kristin said, "YES!!!" They were married December 13,1997 in Atlanta, Georgia. They bought a house in a sleepy little suburb town in the summer of 1999 and have been settling in ever since. The beginning of 2001, they learned that their family soon will be growing by one. They are expecting their first child, a son, October 10th, 2001.
